AI-native learning is here. Databricks shows why it works.

AI-native learning is here. Databricks shows why it works.

One of the biggest myths in learning, I’ve found, is that you have to choose between engagement and scale. It’s actually more than a myth - it’s the foundation behind the bet we took on Uplimit.

Whether you’re enabling customers, sellers, or sales reps, the old model forced you to pick:

You could run live, instructor-led courses where people showed up, participated, and completed. Or you could publish self-paced content online and accept that completion rates would hover around 5%.

For years, that was the trade-off.

At Uplimit, we’ve always believed enterprise learning should drive outcomes, not just content consumption. That’s the bet we made when we built our platform: learning at scale shouldn’t mean sacrificing engagement or impact. That’s why we’re excited to share a new look inside our partnership with Databricks, captured in the video about our partnership we just released.

The old model: scale vs. engagement, pick one

Databricks (like most fast-growing technology companies) faced the challenge of educating thousands of customers, partners, and employees globally. Live training worked well, but it wasn’t scalable. Running a single cohort meant 16 hours of instructor time and a hard cap on how many people could participate.

Self-paced content scaled beautifully, but no one used it. Completion rates for traditional asynchronous learning hovered at industry norms: 3-6%.

The new model: blended learning, powered by AI

For Databricks, the turning point wasn’t just adopting new technology, it was rethinking the learning model altogether. They moved beyond the old either/or tradeoff between engagement and scalability and embraced something fundamentally better: AI-powered blended learning.

This shift was about designing a new kind of learning experience, one that mirrors how people actually learn today. Flexible enough to fit busy schedules. Personalized enough to keep learners engaged. Scalable enough to meet the demands of a fast-growing, global business.

With Uplimit, Databricks built a learning model where AI and human-led instruction work hand-in-hand. Learners have access to on-demand content they’ll actually use, not just scroll past. AI tutors provide real-time feedback and support, so learners don’t get stuck or left behind. Virtual instructor touchpoints ensure depth, connection, and the opportunity to go deeper when needed. Automated nudges keep learners moving forward, creating momentum without adding administrative overhead.

Databricks is now seeing 94% completion rates, 75% reduction in live instruction time, and 91% of learners applying knowledge on the job immediately.

These aren’t numbers most organizations even believe are possible. Especially not at this scale. But they’re not only possible, they’re repeatable when you rethink learning through the lens of AI and performance.

Why this works: AI in learning enables teams to keep up with the speed of change

AI is changing how people work, and that means it has to change how people learn to work too. For Databricks, educating customers isn’t just about onboarding. It’s about enabling real outcomes in the field, fast.

That kind of strategy requires learning experiences designed for today’s pace of change:

  • Flexible enough to meet people where they are.
  • Personalized enough to stay relevant and sticky.
  • Interactive enough to drive behavior change.

This is where Uplimit’s performance enablement platform makes the difference. Our platform doesn’t just scale content, it scales support, engagement, and outcomes. AI tutors, personalized feedback, and smart nudges make sure learners stay on track and apply what they’ve learned.

The bigger shift from learning to performance

What Databricks is doing is really a sign of how organizations are starting to think differently about learning itself. We’re moving past the era where learning meant more content. The future is about outcomes.

AI in learning isn’t just there to drive efficiency, it’s a tool that can actually build the kind of personalized, practice-based, feedback-rich experiences that used to be impossible at scale. And that shift is what’s enabling companies like Databricks to drive real performance, not just completion.

This is the future of learning (for customer education and enablement teams alike); not endless course catalogs, not passive content… but interactive, adaptive, and deeply tied to business outcomes.

Ready to see what’s possible with AI-powered learning?

If you’re rethinking how to scale education without sacrificing outcomes, whether for your customers, your sales teams, or your employees, Databricks offers an excellent blueprint. And Uplimit is the platform that makes it possible. Watch the full video about our partnership.
